Visited my father this morning to say a final goodbye. It said that the room he was in was within the quiet area. It was anything but that. Whether there was building work going on, I don't know, but loud voices, banging and loud music were not acceptable. I would have complained at the premises but my dad's partner insisted I didn't. More consideration should be shown in such circumstances.

From the moment I walked through the door, Jan could not have made me feel most welcome, her empathy, kindness and support was second to none and still to this day, she has been helping me through the 'minefield' of losing my husband so unexpectedly. We used Rowland Brothers for the funeral of my dad earlier in the month. Most of the contact was done by sister. Who said they were excellent. My dad had a final request, that his last journey was in a Bentley.

Rowland Brothers didn’t have this car, but they searched around and kindly found one in Shropshire to grant my dad’s final journey.

They arrived on time, the cars and team were immaculate. They allowed us to touch the coffin and check everything was ok. The cars were very comfortable and they took a route and stopped out side my parents 47 years.

Would fully recommend them at a time of sorrow

I approached Rowland Brothers for my father's funeral having previously dealt with Adam and his father for a previous funeral for my aunt which was handled perfectly and sympathetically several years ago.

I found Tracy and Adam at the West Wickham branch were (again in Adam's case) perfect in judging the needs of the occasion, did not overcomplicate things at any point, suggested the right cost options for my budget and acted in a very professional and friendly manner throughout even though the final outcome of time options was not what I could actually sadly use. Tracy has great expertise in this field and hence dealt with me to smooth over any issues including providing great after service with advice on how to deal with probate in what is always a stressful time. It is the kindness and family orientated business approach which shone through when arranging my aunt's funeral and the same qualities came through from them with my father making Rowland Brothers a firm I would not hesitate to recommend to others in our area.

From the moment they collected my husband the night that he died, Jan and the team at Purley Rowland Brothers have been incredibly kind, supportive, and efficient. The funeral at Botley Barn worked incredibly well and enabled us all to have a productive, and elegant if emotional farewell. I was in contact with Rowlands Croydon recently and was very impressed by them. Funerals are always difficult, but they always provide a fitting service, I have often seen them lead processions in West Norwood.

I phoned them to see ifI could deliver a wreath and they said they would take it and recommended a local florist, who were also fantastic. I phoned their parlour in Croydon to see if they had received the wreath sent, and the perosn I spoke to on the phone kindly went to check, and verified it had been received. Very impressed by their helpful attitude in every area.

I originally left a two star review for this organisation based on the fact they made a number of very basic, serious errors (for example - wrong death of death on coffin, wrong cause of death information given to coroner and various other issues which left me with very little confidence in them). Following a meeting with them I am satisfied they have taken my concerns seriously and put in place training and procedures to ensure no other customer suffers the same problems. I have therefore amended my review and rating a little to reflect this.

As executor, it was important to me to preserve the dignity of the process. I was totally reassured by how professionally everything was handled. I cannot express to you how grateful I am for the Rowland Brothers. Every single person who worked on my mums funeral went above and beyond to make the whole experience as stress free and easy as possible (especially Carly and Adam). I felt comfortable and supported throughout the day. They made one of the hardest days of my life that little bit easier.

It was also very affordable for the level of service they provided. There were lots of small, personal touches they included which I really appreciated, and I feel my mum would have loved it.

We are funeral directors based in Malta and often we are approached by Maltese families to assist with funeral and cremation services of a loved one living in the Greater London area. I think it takes a special person who was able when you met the three of us for the first time we probably looked like rabbits in headlights (we were trying to process the sudden death of the mum and start to try to organise a funeral we luckily haven’t done before) to sit us down calmly sensitively and honestly starting to plan mum’s funeral and explaining the process even without a death certificate.

The person that goes that extra mile by contacting the coroner’s office as we hadn’t heard from him if or not a postmortem had been done; even being on the phone to them for over 40 minutes on hold.

Being flexible to see us when we were in West Wickham, and we popped in.

Making sure we were okay, keeping us on track and reminding me for items I had forgot to give you, like the music for the crematorium.

Finding the best version of one of the songs we forgot to put the artist we wanted to play at the crematorium.

When there are so many different areas of the funeral we were organising and liaising with different people, having you arranging the funeral meant it was one less thing to worry about.

Sorry again for not being able to take mum coffin into the church, I am recovering from a herniated disc in my lower back it just said no; luckily, I was able to do it at the crematorium. Can you thank the member of your team that was looking after me as we were going in.

Wow! Rowland brothers. I’m actually lost for words because your service is impeccable. Grief is so hard to navigate and despite still feeling sadness, one thing that has brought so much relief and peace is the service we have received from you. On 5/03/2025 I laid my dad to rest and Rowland Brothers from start to finish were so considerate and helpful. We had some financial difficulties and they did what they could to ensure my father still got the burial he deserved. After my mother's recent death, Rowlands transported her body from her flat to their premises, and worked with me to arrange and conduct her funeral. All involved acted with thoughtfulness, care and sensitivity at all stages.

The team who transported my mother's body clearly and helpfully explained in advance what would be involved, made sure I was happy with that before doing anything, checked the situation in my mother's flat before starting work, and ensured everything in the flat was left neat and in good order when they departed. They showed great sensitivity and patience when some people arrived part-way through, wanting to pay their last respects, giving them time and privacy to do so. All this took the stress out of this inevitably emotional occasion, and both I and others present were struck by the dignity and respect with which it was all done.

The funeral arranger and the team on the day of the funeral also showed professionalism, understanding and helpfulness throughout, both in person and in correspondence. They explained everything carefully, always made sure we understood what options there were, asked what we wanted without any pressure to choose one course over another, and ensured we knew exactly what would happen and when, and the team at the funeral were dignified and caring. This all made both the funeral and the period before and after it, as easy to cope with as possible.

Our care from Charlee from the beginning was outstanding - we went in without an appointment and were looked after with so much care and attention. This never changed and I doubt we would have received this from any other company. She truly is empathetic, kind and knowledgeable. The door was always open for us and I feel like we have made a friend for life. She looked after our mum in some of her darkest times and made the process much easier for us all - We truly thank her for that. We couldn't have done it without her!

I cancelled my plans with a different director who could not come close to the level service Charlee and the team provided.

I planned my dad's funeral from over 300 miles away and Charlee had everything arranged within one day going above and beyond to make a horrible process bearable.

I was met on the day at the church by John who had called the day before to introduce himself and reassure me the day would go smoothly exactly as we expected and that's exactly what they delivered.

When I die I would like Rowlands to handle my funeral and I’m not even local! Everything was done with the utmost care and understanding. Jan and Scott make the most wonderful team. Nothing was too much trouble, from being able to attend the chapel of rest out of hours to being able to sit in the hearse and even carry the coffin. To be offered such warmth at such a difficult time was a kindness I’ll not forget. Whilst I’ve luckily only had one other experience of funeral homes this surpassed my expectations from the moment I called to make enquiries. Jan was so helpful and even told me that should I decide to go elsewhere to just call her back if any advice was needed. You just don’t get customer service on that level these days. The chapel is restful and the staff couldn’t be more helpful and accommodating even down to introducing me to Scott who was to be in charge on the day of the funeral so that there was a feeling of continuity. Thank you both so very much.

I lost my amazing husband suddenly and jan and the team at purley were amazing, they took great care of me and him and I was able to sit with him for the last two days before the funeral which was so important for me and they kept me going in tea. All my wishes for his funeral were carried out beautifully and the day although overwhelming with over 170 people on a very hot day he got the send off he would have been so proud of .
Thanks again and I will be going in to collect his ashes and my ring in a week or so and catch up with the team .
